Jiu-Jitsu originated as a traditional Japanese martial art, renowned for its grace and effectiveness. As it gained global popularity for its beautiful techniques, it naturally evolved. In the early 1900s, a wave of Japanese immigrants, many of them farmers, arrived in Brazil. Among them was Helio Gracie, who trained in Judo under Mitsuyo Maeda and adapted it so that a smaller person could overcome a larger opponent. Thus, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was born—becoming a transformative force in modern sports.
At our school, we teach Jiu-Jitsu passed down by Robert Drysdale and Rodrigo Cavaca, two world-class BJJ champions from Brazil.
We offer classes all week, both with and without a gi—so be sure to check out our free one-week trial!
